Welcome to Early Music at Las Positas College.

The 2011 spring concert series moves in the new venue, the Barbara Mertes Center for the Performing Arts.

The Las Positas College Early Music Concert Series has presented world-class historically informed performances for the tri-valley community since 2006. The intimate environment, stimulating pre-concert talks, beautiful music, and post concert receptions provide music lovers with a rich and exciting concert experience. These concerts are offered at affordable prices to encourage new audience to discover the joys of live performance of beautiful music performed brilliantly.

Artistic Director

Marilyn Marquis, Founder and Artistic Director, is also a faculty member at the College. With the support of the LPC Foundation and the generous support of Dr Philip Manwell, Ms Marquis established this concert series in honor of Dr Linda Lucas for the benefit of our campus community. Marilyn Marquis has been actively involved in the early music world since 1982 when she played recorder in a recorder in La Mer Consort directed by Betty Zuehlke. She has been an active member of the American Recorder Society, serving as vice-president and later as president of the East Bay chapter. Marilyn has served on the Board of the Bay Area Recorder Series, a series dedicated to providing concert performed by international known recorder players, and on the Board of Healing Muses, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing healing music for chronically ill patients in hospitals. She is on the board of the San Francisco Early Music Society and a member the American Recorder Society and of Early Music America.
